Servolution

A Servolution is not an event; it is a culture. Infusing this culture into the DNA of our church will change our view of the world and our perspective of the needs of those who live around us. We will be intentionally pursuing people far from God, the forgotten, and the poor to show them a God who is passionately in love with them. We will show the rich that God has a purpose for their lives by bringing them face to face with the poor. It is through serving that we will show people the hope they can have in Jesus.

Here are just a few examples of how we are planning to serve our community:

  • Giving away bottled water
  • Adopting a neighborhood
  • Starting a cooking ministry
  • Providing free auto maintenance
  • Serving as the clean-up crew after community events
  • Serving and caring for single moms and widows
  • Serving the homeless in our community
  • Serving the special needs community
  • Hospital outreach
  • School supply give-away
  • Responding to tragedy in our community
  • Connecting with other groups who are already serving our community

Service Teams

For anyone who wants to call The Journey home, we ask that you participate in many of our weekly service opportunities. The Journey is committed to intentionally seek out missional opportunities within the community in order to develop relationships with people. The Journey is a community where all members are involved in learning to become disciples of Jesus. Our goal is to see everyone participating in the coming Kingdom of God and loving the “least of these.” The Journey takes Matthew 25 literally and believes that the least of these - the broken, the lost, and people who are far from God - should be our primary focus.

Do Something Now

Once a month The Journey will partner with a different organization that is lending a hand to the “least of these”. Our church will come together to make a special impact on each organization. Here are some organizations we hope to work with:

Service Day

Four times a year our whole church community will gather for one big service day. We challenge all of our family to participate in this day when we choose to intentionally tackle a big service project. This could look like rebuilding a house, providing free oil changes to single moms and widows, planning a back to school event in the community, or organizing a free school supply giveaway. We believe by coming together we can do more for the Kingdom of God.
